    Leaving study session

marlanbar · 1 · Last reply by kevin

I am wondering if the following behaviors are as intended: If I do not complete all the steps for a new kanji during a study session, a second kanji appears in the subsequent session, resulting in a total of two (even though I had only configured for one). Additionally, if I leave kanji with errors uncleared during the review session, they seem to disappear afterward.

    Custom New Kanji Count

Yoosten · 1 · Last reply by Yoosten

    Hello there! (Quick Context: You responded to my Google Play Review yesterday. I said;

    To which you responded:

) The "Limit New Kanji Per Day" Option is very static in saying "Only learn 2 new Kanji every 0,5 days", which still doesn't necessarily align with the Learning Speed I may have. What I'm looking for is something more akin to the "Custom study" Feature for Anki Decks, which I use in tandem with Ringotan. In there it has the Option to choose how many Kanji to learn that Day. I like to go in certain Batches with the Heisig Book (making

Add school grades to setup wizard

    Eiri · 0 · Posted

Before trying this app, I'd been learning in school grade order. But that wasn't listed. I tried a few of the listed learning methods in the startup wizard, but all of them seem to make me put in a mix of kanji I do and don't know in the same basket.

undo button & letting me say when I'm done writing

    Eiri · 0 · Posted

I wish I could write whatever I want, undoing any mistakes, and explicitly say when I'm done. It would feel a lot more natural and akin to using a pencil and eraser that way vs getting blasted with "Wrong!" and given the answer the moment my hesitation makes me mess up. Plus, if I try to draw a second stroke after my "wrong" one, it immediately skips me to the next question, which feels weird to me.

淹 not included in the app?

fishmill · 1 · Last reply by BlueRaja

Was hoping to learn 淹れる but it's not in app? Definition: to make (tea, coffee, etc.); to brew a beverage (with hot water)

I've already tried changing the Lesson Name to JLPT, WaniKani, etc., but I can't find this kanji anywhere.

I don't really understand the alogorthm stuff, but for reference, what exactly does the frequency setting change?

yryrdz · 2 · Last reply by yryrdz

I'm perfectly fine with the way it is by default and don't wanna rock the boat, but I figure there's no harm in knowing about it. Is it just like decreasing/increasing a default flat rate of time between SRS levels (although I'm not even sure if this app is like Wanikani where there's flat set rates to begin with as opposed to something I can't wrap my mind around the specifics of like Anki FSRS, which I'd also be curious as to what the difference between FSRS and sm2+ is), or is it more complicated than that?

Add an option to not stop playing other audio sources while using Ringotan

fresco · 2 · Last reply by fresco

Sometimes I want to listen to music while doing my reviews, but as soon as I open the app, the audio stops. It'd be nice to fix this, or if it's intended to work this way, add an option to do that.

Add support for the MaruMori API

    Newgrounds0 · 0 · Posted

It would be neat if there was a way to sync your kanji progress with MaruMori's API, similar to how you can sync it with WaniKani currently.

This would be especially useful for all the N1-and-beyond kanji that WaniKani doesn't cover.

I set my review as a lot but only have 5 review per session while having 70 reviews pending

Is it recommended to do all reviews that you have available or just the amount that it gives your for the session?

Jakouri · 1 · Last reply by BlueRaja

I missed 2 days and when I go to study it shows 0 new and 27 review and in parentheses (of 38 total). I'm wondering if I should do all 38 reviews, or just do the reviews it shows for the session until I catch up naturally after a few days?

    Show Kanji in Example Compounds

    Poorvi Acharya · 0 · Posted

Right now, the app displays example compounds entirely in hiragana. For example, if I’m learning 緯, it shows けいい (details) and いど (latitude).

I think it would be much more useful if the compounds were written in kanji while omitting the character being studied. For example:

    • Instead of けいい, display 経?
    • Instead of いど, display ?度

This way, we can see how the kanji is actually used in real words rather than just memorizing the hiragana reading. Furigana could also be included on top for reading support.

Here is a sample image of what this (could) look like, though there's

"put new kanji before review" option?

    Jae An · 0 · Posted

Unsure if this is a bug, however I do not see this "put new kanji before review" anywhere in the app despite the play store page claiming it should exist.

I have uninstalled and reinstalled it on a separate device yet I do not see this option there either.

    # Edit: It was hidden until a daily new kanji limit is set. It would be helpful to either grey this option out or something similar so that it can be easily found.

Are there plans to make the app available in additional languages like German?

    ForboJack · 0 · Posted

Love the app, but it would be far easier to learn Kanji, when I could see the translations in my native language.

    Radicals deck

    Martens Langiewicz · 0 · Posted

I'd love to have a kanji radicals deck to include in my learning.

I'd make it so much easier and faster for me to memorise more complex kanji (Heisig style ;) ).

I passed N3 years ago, and now coming back to relearn kanji, I found out I'm much better at relearning kanji I had the radicals memorised for the first time.

Lessons don’t pop up on the first introductory sequence for Tobira

Tobirakun · 1 · Last reply by Tobirakun

Not sure why but when I first downloaded the app and whenever I reset the data and chose Katakana and Tobira, nothing shows up on my lesson plan (the “This Lesson” tab said there are none.) Once I switched the book to genki and back to Tobira, the lessons finally showed up, but now I can’t adjust where I want to start from.
