Show "No results found" in Custom Review
Right now, when no results are found, it says nothing.
We should add icon + "no results found" + "clear filters"

Able to set which hour new kanji should refresh
At the moment I'm using the "limit new kanji per day" feature set to 3 per 1 day, however, the "day" resets at 10pm which makes me involuntarily skip some days, and then have 0 new kanji to learn next day. Due to the refresh timing I end up doing some day's kanji the night before.

Vacation Mode
How about a vacation mode? Ideally it would work in a way that would freeze all scheduled reviews rather just just push the "vacation" days back and then have them all hit at the same time.

Please add support for British GCSE Japanese
Some schools in the UK offer Japanese as a subject for GCSE, it would be very useful if there was a choice to arrange the kanji in GCSE order

Recommend books that you can read with the kanji you know.
This is probably a moonshot, but imagine this: I am studying 200 kanji. I want to practice reading those kanji. Ringotan knows what kanji I am studying and maybe connects to a db somewhere that stores all the vocab for various books. It then recommends books that use kanji only up to the point I have studied kanji.
Conversely, we could select books we want to be able to read, and ringotan would make a custom review of all the kanji therein that we need to know.

Dakuten und Handakuten
Hi, Is there a way to practice hiragana and katana with dakuten (and handakuten). Sometimes, it is easy to learn having some writing experience. Thank for the awesome and practical app!

Radicals deck
I'd love to have a kanji radicals deck to include in my learning.
I'd make it so much easier and faster for me to memorise more complex kanji (Heisig style ;) ).
I passed N3 years ago, and now coming back to relearn kanji, I found out I'm much better at relearning kanji I had the radicals memorised for the first time.

Show Kanji in Example Compounds
Right now, the app displays example compounds entirely in hiragana. For example, if I’m learning 緯, it shows けいい (details) and いど (latitude).
I think it would be much more useful if the compounds were written in kanji while omitting the character being studied. For example:
- Instead of けいい, display 経?
- Instead of いど, display ?度
This way, we can see how the kanji is actually used in real words rather than just memorizing the hiragana reading. Furigana could also be included on top for reading support.
Here is a sample image of what this (could) look like, though there's

Add support for the MaruMori API
It would be neat if there was a way to sync your kanji progress with MaruMori's API, similar to how you can sync it with WaniKani currently.
This would be especially useful for all the N1-and-beyond kanji that WaniKani doesn't cover.

Add an option to not stop playing other audio sources while using Ringotan
Sometimes I want to listen to music while doing my reviews, but as soon as I open the app, the audio stops. It'd be nice to fix this, or if it's intended to work this way, add an option to do that.

undo button & letting me say when I'm done writing
I wish I could write whatever I want, undoing any mistakes, and explicitly say when I'm done. It would feel a lot more natural and akin to using a pencil and eraser that way vs getting blasted with "Wrong!" and given the answer the moment my hesitation makes me mess up. Plus, if I try to draw a second stroke after my "wrong" one, it immediately skips me to the next question, which feels weird to me.

Add school grades to setup wizard
Before trying this app, I'd been learning in school grade order. But that wasn't listed. I tried a few of the listed learning methods in the startup wizard, but all of them seem to make me put in a mix of kanji I do and don't know in the same basket.

Custom New Kanji Count
Hello there! (Quick Context: You responded to my Google Play Review yesterday. I said;
To which you responded:
) The "Limit New Kanji Per Day" Option is very static in saying "Only learn 2 new Kanji every 0,5 days", which still doesn't necessarily align with the Learning Speed I may have. What I'm looking for is something more akin to the "Custom study" Feature for Anki Decks, which I use in tandem with Ringotan. In there it has the Option to choose how many Kanji to learn that Day. I like to go in certain Batches with the Heisig Book (making

View definitions/pronunciations at a glance easier; without needing to press "next"
It is a bit inconvenient to need to press the next button to see the other uses of a certain kanji, which increases the time taken to see what they are.
At the same time, there is a large space at the bottom that is not taken up by the kanji view, nor the definition list, so I thought instead of the definition list being shown horizontally, hidden away by the next/previous arrows, what if, the definitions are placed in cells that is vertically scrollable?
Excuse my terrible MSPaint drawing, but something like this:
Hopefully, this will make learning to

Add an optional additional level where you can see your raw writing, without any snapping
Disclaimer: I realize that this is similar to issues #450 and #431
But these are years old, and there is some additional things I want to say.
Sometimes when I forget a kanji, I simply tap and drag where I think the nearest stroke starts, and then the snap then reminds me of how to write the kanji in full.
Problem is, this isn't really considered "mastery" of the kanji, since I had to be reminded how to write it via "cheating" using the stroke snapping.
Hence, I think this should be an additional optional final level where this happens,

Automatically reading out of multiple words
I am finding the first word being read out automatically to be extremely helpful, however I also find myself scrolling through and tapping the words only to hear the different ways the kanji is read in different words.
For this an option to read out multiple words, either all or once for each different reading of the kanji, would be useful.

Grade relative length of strokes
This may well be more work than it's worth but it would be awesome of Ringotan could tell me when my strokes aren't proportionally correct.
Even just doing something like sorting the x and y coordinates of the the endpoints of the answer and making sure that the same thing for what the user has drawn so far is a subsequence of that would help a lot!

Will it be possible to select two books to study from?
I am about to finish Tobira beginners, I want to switch to the other tobira book, but I’d like to still be interrogated on the first book to maintain my knowledge. Is it possible somehow to select two books or more?
I know that you can change at will, but (correct me if i am wrong) when I finished my daily study of beginner, even if I switch deck, my lessons to reviews will still be at 0. Meaning that if I want to study the same deck everyday, I can’t go to another one.
and thanks for that wonderful

Option to switch off progressive stroke reveal, and instead display full kanji at the end, with self-marking of correct/incorrect result
Hello - I recently added a comment on an older “problem” post (that had been marked as “solved”) but didn’t see any reply yet, so in case it is exempt from notifications, I wanted to create a new post here.
The original post is: “Option to reveal answer after drawing”.
I would like to revive the discussion of this potential feature, as while I understand and appreciate the hesitation from the developer, I still believe it has a lot of value as an optional “advanced mode” for kanji you have already learned to a high degree.
I will repost my

Can we please get the option for reviews in smaller batches?
I have taken a few months off from learning and I have a pile of almost 800 reviews I'm trying to chip away at.
Current sessions, even set to "few" are almost 20 at a time. I'm having to make mistakes with most of these as I refresh my memory on each of them.
The huge review size is making both the time and frustration for each review batch oppressive, especially if I make two mistakes in a row for any item and get dropped into idiot mode.
Can we get an option for a "Tiny" batch size of 5?
