Support for Custom Kanji Decks

Please consider adding an option to add custom kanji decks rather than only providing the preset decks to study from. If there isn't a planned api for Ringotan, a simple interface where the user would paste all kanji to be included in the custom deck would work. Alternatively, Ringotan could read from a text file containing the kanji to be added. Another option would be to read from a sql lite file to add additional information like sections within the deck. One use case for this is that it would allow importing a deck like https://jpdb.io/anime/1579/non-non-biyori with the ability to seperate each uniquely introduced kanjis in sections for each episode similar to the pre-built decks.

I'm not sure if it's a bug but currently even with the snap feature disabled our own line is visually replaced at every stroke, rather than only when we go off the mark. Worst of all, after getting it correctly there's no way to compare our own full written character to what the correct one was (seeing an animation of the original vs your drawing can be quite eye opening).

So what's been happening is that some times I have the feeling I'm not being totally accurate but can't really tell because as soon as I lift my pencil my original line is gone (and it's super thin while drawing), and the snapping kinda encourages me to never really have to properly learn to stabilize things myself because the app is showing me a pretty image no matter what I do.

Even at the strictest setting you can really get carried away with not following the proper proportions for stroke lengths, and it's only when you go write the character freestyle somewhere else that you realize all the bad habits you picked up while never being aware of how haphazardous our writing truly was all along.

Sooo if having our own writing displayed as we write unless we go off the guidelines isn't a possibility, at the very least it would be nice to have a whole preview on the side of what you're actually doing behind the pretty snapped image, and a way to compare it to what it should have been at the end (since currently pressing the green checkmark only displays the last stroke - and very thinly too)

This has previously been requested but I think has been misunderstood on what's being asked. While your app does automatically back up it's progress from a database perspective, it does not currently share this database across separate devices. This is something that needs to be explicitly setup.

As an example, I currently have your app running on both an iPhone and an iPad. Any progress made on the iPhone is not actively synchronized to the app instance on the iPad. The cloud sync that you currently have is simply maintaining a backup of the app in the case of needing to restore a device.

Here are links to the developer documentation and sample code for using native CloudKit, which would enable the functionality I am referring to:

https://developer.apple.com/icloud/cloudkit/
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/cloudkit/
https://developer.apple.com/documentation/cloudkit/enabling_cloudkit_in_your_app
https://github.com/apple?q=cloudkit-sample&type=repository

I would greatly appreciate a way to sync progress between multiple devices and it would bring another layer of functionality to an already amazing app. I know myself and many others would find it incredibly helpful since I'm often switching between my phone and an iPad when I study. As it stands currently, there is no way to do this concurrently and have progress match between devices, which becomes quite frustrating.

If I can help with testing or need to go into any further detail, I'd be happy to! Thanks so much for creating Ringotan, it's helped me so much in my learning progress.

This might be a lot to ask, or it could be very easy to implement depending on how the app was created. I was wondering if a new mode could be added for compound word study.
Nothing major — imagine that after pressing the "Study" button, you have the classic single-kanji study option, plus a second option for compound words.

This second option would work just like the first one, but instead of a single character slot, there would be multiple slots for a specific word. For example, if the question is "警察":

The app says the word aloud and shows its meaning, just like usual.

Two character slots would appear instead of one.

You would be expected to write both kanji, one after the other, from memory into the two slots.

A possible feature could be to only include compounds made up of kanji you've already learned in the normal mode. So you wouldn't see "警察" unless you had already studied both "警" and "察" individually. The more kanji you learn, the more compound words would become available.

I imagined this as an add-on to complement the main study. For example, after reaching "Tensai" or "Senpai" level and above with a new kanji, related compounds could become available in the second mode, alongside other kanji at the same level.

Possible challenges would include screen space limitations or difficulties in implementation depending on how the app was originally designed.
