"Wrap up session" option in three-dot menu

    Newgrounds0 · 0 · Posted

Adding an option to wrap up a session, i.e. emptying the queue of kanji not yet touched on within the session, leaving only those kanji in the session's queue I already started answering.

This is useful when you start a session, but get tired in the middle of it and still don't want to lose progress on those kanji you already started answering.

Tapping too quickly after answer will skip a card

    Patrick · 0 · Posted

Background: when you’ve answered a card, if the answer is correct then instead of having to tap “next” you can just tap the background and you will advance to the next card.

If you do this too quickly, you will sometimes see a card appear briefly but then immediately advance to the next card. That card will not show up later in the review, so it is effectively skipped.

This was observed on the iOS app.

Add new tutorial popup for "kanji that looks different when printed"

    BlueRaja · 1 · Last reply by Newgrounds0

I've had feedback from a few users who thought that kana/kanji like り, 心, 令 etc. were being prompted incorrectly because the prompt looks different than the printed character. When one of these shows up, we should give a tutorial popup to let them know.

    Better reviewing when fsiled

Ajbjc · 2 · Last reply by Ajbjc

The main problems I have with reviewing a kanji is that if I forget what the kanji looks like and therefore fail, it immediately goes to the step with the green dots where it feels like it's wasting my time. I already know where the start points are, and you either have to do that just to eventually do it without any guide on screen or mark it as "just learned" to skip it to the next day. Maybe it could be a toggle in the settings that it doesn't immediately go back to the one with the green dots,

Account system e-mail/pass login OR facebook-google options

    Litwickclub · 0 · Posted

I suggest making an account system, a simple one to log-in via e-mail and pass.

Since ringotan will become paid figure something out so only one free account per ip for example or something and so on.. This will help save progress if a device is lost.

No account system what if the app is deleted, means all progess gone forever?

    Litwickclub · 0 · Posted

Please add an account system asap to login and save progress online because if you lose your phone or delete the app all progress is lost 😨 ok edit: you can save via export and importing. I appreciate that.

Custom study: Sort by Last Failed (time)

    Jeanpatiri500 · 0 · Posted

Please consider adding a Sort by Last Failed search option. This would be very useful to me and probably many other people to be able to grind the Kanjis we struggled with.

For now I'm using the "Most Difficult First" which is also useful, but in some sessions/some cases, Sort by Last Failed would be even more useful. (Both are very useful in different situations)

Thanks in advance! Your app has been of a great help to me so far, I'm grinding my kanji writing skills as this is required for the language school I will be joining in April

Find some more common hyougai kanji

BlueRaja · 8 · Last reply by thecrackstreetboys

According to this question, the word 朦朧 is fairly common, but neither kanji is included in Ringotan.  It seems neither the word nor kanji are listed as common in our dictionaries, but ロス先生 confirmed that it is.  So, let's find more data sources that include this information.

Apparently JPDB lists it as common. Where do they get their information from?

Questions about non-WK kanji, 'common' 表外漢字, etc.

thecrackstreetboys · 2 · Last reply by BlueRaja

I've finished all the WK kanji in Ringotan and I've found that hitting Ringotan on "frequent review" accelerates my learning so much that I really want to do it with every new non-Jinmeiyou kanji I find in the wild. My first question is, is one of the filter options when selecting what list you want to study kanji from comprehensive, i.e. includes everything that's inside of Ringotan? Because I keep finding myself having to jump from list to list to find different kanji I come across. (a) Is one comprehensive; (b) if not could we get that :); (c) if

    Custom study for Sensei-level kanjis

    biri · 0 · Posted

Is it possible to add an option to custom study only kanjis you've reached Sensei level on? Similar to WaniKani that has an option to study all your Burned kanji randomly. Also, as a follow up, what exactly reaching Sensei means? Do they still come back to reviews after some time?

    Sort by Number of Strokes

kaizokunokazoku · 1 · Last reply by BlueRaja

It would be super helpful if in the Custom Review screen it were possible to sort by the number of strokes in each Kanji.

My usual approach to learning new Kanji is to browse for any Kanji that are made up components I've already learned but currently this involves a lot of scrolling and a lot of missed possibilities. If it were possible to sort by the number of strokes in the Custom Review screen it would pretty much guarantee that any new Kanji I pick is either made of components I already know or something irreducible that I will

    Trouble with a particular stroke

Sinie · 4 · Last reply by Hayden Bye

hey :) i really like this app so far. my ability to write and recall kanji has increased a lot and it's given me a boost in motivation to keep learning japanese again

however there is one slight frustration i've been having with a particular kind of stroke ^^' the ム stroke in the following images appears to be strangely unforgiving, and i feel like it might be a bug, especially since for one of them i was completely in the line

    Custom Review - Search All

kaizokunokazoku · 2 · Last reply by BlueRaja

Is there some way to search across all the Kanji supported by Ringotan? I'm trying to find the 旧字体 version of 亀 (龜) which is listed on KanjiVG but I can't seem to find in any of the lesson sources (including JLPT and Kanken)

PS: Absolutely loving Ringotan, thank you so much for making this!
