I think this is the same "gestureRecognizer" problem that's affecting the settings.  Probably caused by iOS Hot Restart

Looks like they need to be center- or end-aligned

The first stroke of 参 fully appears as soon as I touch the screen. If I attempt to draw it sometimes it marks me wrong. No issues with any other kanji so far.

When running startup wizard on Nexus 10 Oreo 8. As far as I can tell it doesn't cause any issues, so this might be ignorable.  Should still research it.

This could just be my phone, but I suspect there's an issue with the debouncing
