Do items get “burned”?
And if so, is there a way to switch on occasional review of burned items?

No, items are never burned. However, practically speaking, once you know the item well enough the review frequency will be so infrequent that you effectively never see it.

Ah that’s good to know. I had wondered why there were many kanji that I hadn’t seen for a very long time, and was beginning to suspect there was burning going on. I actually prefer there not to be, I need a little refresh now and then. But if the SRS decides that I don’t need to see one for multiple months or even years, then I’ll trust that process! Thanks!
